Robert Vineberg pleaded guilty in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday to a low-level heroin possession charge.
A Manhattan judge turned down Robert Vineberg's request Wednesday that would put the case in the hands of a drug court that emphasizes treatment instead of punishment.
Robert Vineberg, 57, has been charged with felony possession of heroin with intent to sell. His attorney said Vineberg was a ten bag a day heroin addict, a friend of the Oscar-winning actor and not his drug dealer.
Robert Vineberg is charged with possessing heroin with the intent to sell. The 57-year-old was arrested as police followed leads after Hoffman's Feb. 2 death in an apparent heroin overdose.
The coffin holding Hoffman's body was brought out of the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola by pallbearers and put it a hearse, and family and guests began to stream out Friday afternoon.
Two of the three suspects arrested amid the investigation into Philip Seymour Hoffman's death have been released from jail.
