Free agents in the NBA could finally sign contracts starting at 12:01 a.m. EDT Wednesday, and the Brooklyn Nets wasted no time getting their All-Star point guard to put pen to paper — well, iPad actually.
With Marcus Camby returning to Madison Square Garden, the present-day New York Knicks are resembling their defensive-strong teams of the late 1990s. Who is to say that New York can't be the third-best team in the East?
Clearly on the downside of his career at age 38, Camby still provides a lot of value for the Knicks off the bench. He averaged nine rebounds in only 23 minutes, good enough for one of the best rates in the NBA.

They say everything is bigger in Texas. We'll soon find out that's true concerning Jeremy Lin's contract.
Assuming the Knicks match the offer from the Rockets and bring Jeremy Lin back in the fold, Craig would like to see Kidd be the starter and Lin come off the bench.
What a difference a day makes. Thursday morning Craig was down in the dumps, blaming his foul mood on the Mets, the Knicks and the fact that our nation's birthday fell on a Wednesday.
Lin can sign the offer sheet with Houston on July 11, and the Knicks will then have three days to match the offer.
Jason Kidd has shunned the Dallas Mavericks and instead has signed a three-year, $9 million deal with the New York Knicks.

There's not much left for New York in its search for a starting-caliber point guard who can work with -- or perhaps without -- restricted free agent Jeremy Lin.
It seems Knicks general manager Glen Grunwald will have a big-money decision to make on arguably his best draw.
The Dash for Nash has a winner -- and it's not the Knicks.
Los Angeles had a little something extra to celebrate on the Fourth of July. As for the Knicks, their fireworks turned out to be just a bunch of duds.

The Knicks are willing to give up Iman Shumpert in a sign-and-trade deal to acquire former two-time MVP Steve Nash.
