Reports of a possible explosion at Peninsula Hospital in the Edgemere section of the Rockaways came in around 4:47 p.m.
A 23-year-old man was taken into custody at Burlington Coat Factory at Rego Park Center. Investigators believe he set the fires to divert attention from his shoplifting.
The blaze started around 5:30 a.m. at a vacant 2 1/2-story home at 1700 Topping Avenue in the Claremont section of the Bronx
