Stabbing in Times Square leaves 1 dead as NYPD looks for suspects
The search continues for three suspects after a man was stabbed to death in Midtown Manhattan on Monday night.
The attack happened just before 11:30 p.m. in the middle of Times Square, outside a restaurant called Burger & Lobster on 43rd Street between Broadway and Sixth Avenue.
Officers said a 39-year-old man was stabbed in the face, chest and back. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
The NYPD is looking for three men who ran from the scene heading east. Police say one of the individuals was wearing all black, but there were no other descriptions.
New Yorkers said they are still trying to wrap their minds around the attack, especially given the location.
"That's terrible. I mean, there's a lot of security in the area," said Dan Baich.
"I know that this is a highly dense area, and with that, there's going to be risk. I do my part to make sure I do everything I can to protect my safety. I'm very aware of it," another person said. "I feel horrible for the victim and his family."
"I'm here every day, so it's kind of nerve-wracking to think that someone could get murdered," Martin Leis said. "I don't know if there is an answer, but more police presence is always a good thing."
"I see more and more cops every day, and I don't see a difference," one woman said. "I'm at a loss for words. I'm almost like desensitized, numb."
