Rideshare driver gunned down in the Bronx. Here's the latest on the NYPD's investigation.

The NYPD is searching for the suspects who fatally shot a rideshare driver in the Bronx early Thursday morning.

Issa Isac, 55, was gunned down while driving for a rideshare app, according to relatives.

Police say his killing was one of at least six shootings citywide in the first few hours of 2026.

What police say happened

Surveillance video shows what appears to be Isac's vehicle stopped near Morris Avenue and the Cross Bronx Expressway at around 6:45 a.m. Two men are seen approaching the vehicle and then the car speeds off.

Fernando Mateo, spokesperson for the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, said the suspects were in another car "who chased him down, tried to physically take him out of the car, and when he refused to get out of the car, he accelerated the vehicle," adding, "These two individuals turned around and shot through the window, shooting him twice, impacting him twice in the head."

Police confirmed Isac was shot in the head. Investigators said the deadly altercation may have started with a fender bender.

The NYSFTD is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Mateo said he is pushing for more cameras inside rideshare vehicles.

"We have the best detectives in the world. They're gonna find the two people that pulled guns out and shot at Isac, killing him," Mateo said.

"We are all heartbroken"

Isac, who had 10 years of rideshare driving experience, was a married father of four from West Africa who was working to take care of his wife and adult children back at home.

"He's a nice guy ... very, very nice guy," cousin Fassery Coulibaly said. "He's a hardworking guy. He's working to feed his family."

"We are all heartbroken," Mateo added. "Issa was a very nice person, a person that was never in trouble."
