Man Pleads Not Guilty In Shooting Of Teen In Paterson
PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Paterson man accused of shooting a 17-year-old girl last month has pleaded not guilty.
Luis Polanco, 25, is facing attempted murder and weapons charges in the May 30 shooting that seriously wounded the girl in Paterson.
The victim was struck in the back while sitting in the passenger seat of a car, according to authorities.
Polanco was arrested a week after the shooting in Hazelton, Pennsylvania.
Attorney Harley Breite said his client doesn't know the victim.
Polanco is being held at the Passaic County Jail on $750,000. The case is being referred to a grand jury.
Prosecutors declined to comment after the court hearing on Monday.
