Man charged with attempted murder after teen injured in Baltimore County shooting

A man is facing attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting of a 16-year-old in Arbutus Friday, May 15, according to Baltimore County police.

Police said the suspect, 27-year-old John Alvarado, and the teen knew each other. Alvarado is being held without bond at the Baltimore County detention center, officials said. 

Officers responded to the 3300 block of Washington Boulevard around 10:10 p.m. for a reported disturbance involving a gun. When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old suffering from a non-life-threatening injury.

The teen was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

According to a preliminary investigation, detectives believe the teen and Alvarado got into an argument outside when the shooting happened.
