House Arrest For NJ Teen Indicted In Fatal Beating
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- A teen charged with murder in the beating death of a central New Jersey man this summer is facing more legal problems.
The 17-year-old was put under house arrest after police cited him for underage drinking earlier this month. Authorities say he also violated a curfew imposed as part of his $300,000 bail.
The house arrest order came Friday, after a judge rejected a bid by Middlesex County prosecutors to have the teen's bail revoked or increased.
The youth is among five defendants, ages 16 through 18, charged in the death of 49-year-old Divyendu Sinha of Old Bridge, who was attacked while out walking with his family. All five teens have pleaded not guilty and will be tried as adults.
Sinha's two sons also were assaulted in the June 25 attack, which prosecutors called a purposeless wilding spree.
