Authorities said one person got out safely after a home in the north Twin Cities metro caught fire early Monday morning. Crews were called to the 9700 block of 6th Street NE is Blaine at about 1:15 a.m.
A 59-year-old Plymouth man who had a business partnership with an auto sales company is accused of swindling more than $100,000 from that company, according to charged filed Friday in Anoka County Court.

Tom Pernice Jr. moved into position Saturday for his second Champions Tour title, shooting a 7-under 65 to take a two-stroke lead over Tom Kite in the 3M Championship. Pernice had a 13-under 131 total at TPC Twin Cities after opening with a 66. The two-time PGA Tour winner had four straight birdies on the front nine, and added two more on Nos. 10 and 12. After making a 40-foot bogey putt on the 14th hole, he birdied Nos. 15 and 18. The 53-year-old Pernice, playing in the tournament for the first time, on the 2009 SAS Championship for his lone senior title.
An international soccer team that's overcome incredible odds gets to bring home some hardware for a job well done. A team called "Haitian Initiative", composed of young athletes from Haiti, played their way into the Championship game at Saturday night's Schwann's USA Cup. They were the runner's up. The team was able to travel from the Caribbean with the help of retired soccer pro Tony Sanneh, who's originally from Minnesota. Fifteen-thousand players from around the world came to the week-long soccer tournament in Blaine.
