North Dakota's attorney general said Tuesday that the state's sole abortion clinic will be forced to shut down at the end of July, at which time patients will likely head across the Red River to neighboring Moorhead.
The rate, which is measured as new admissions per 100,000 residents, stands at 7.4. It had been above the high risk mark (8) since early May.
Friday's U.S. Supreme Court ruling divided the nation on abortion, not just in public opinion but in access to abortion care.
"The first domino has fallen with a huge thud, but the rest will be 'tick, tick, tick,'" said Planned Parenthood's Emily Bisek.
In all, the state has seen over 1.54 million COVID-19 cases since March of 2020, of which more than 78,000 were reinfections. A total of 12,784 Minnesotans have died due to the virus.
The Minnesota Department of Health said the presumptive case was detected in an adult in the Twin Cities area who likely caught the virus while traveling abroad.
Many people with disabilities are not getting the adequate care they need as more than 170 group homes have closed across the state since October, ACR Group Homes said.
The president and CEO of Wisconsin's Planned Parenthood, Tanya Atkinson, says they will still help patients navigate to states where abortion remains legal.
"One thing that scientists have known for a long time is that mosquitoes are attracted to the odor of used gym socks," Dr. Jon Oliver said.
