“He stood against injustice. He always protected those who could not protect themselves.” Devin’s father, David Jaramillo, said. He said Devin always wanted to follow in his footsteps to become an officer and that the badge was Devin’s calling.
“To the community, he was a hero and a protector and showed up when needed. But beyond the uniform and beyond the badge, he was my brother,” his younger sister, Isabella Jaramillo, said. “The one who teased me guided me and taught me how to be strong.”
During the memorial service for her son, Yolanda Jaramillo said there are no words for what it feels like to lose a child. “Devin chose a life of service, a life of courage, and a life centered around protecting others. My son wore his badge with pride, not for recognition but because he wanted to make a difference,” she said.
