CBS News has been tracking a record number of measles cases around the country after an outbreak in West Texas that led to the deaths of two children.
The number of measles cases in the United States has surpassed 2019's wave of infections, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
A spokesperson for UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas, said that the child was "receiving treatment for complications of measles while hospitalized" and was not vaccinated.
Health officials say a child who had not been vaccinated died of measles in West Texas — the first death in an outbreak that has now infected more than 200 people.
