Paul Bessette showed the wound on the right side of his chest, where he said the bullet was cut out in surgery. As Jermont Terry reports, there was even a bullet hole in Bessette's car's seat belt.
There was an Uber sticker on the windshield, but it was not known late Wednesday if the man was a rideshare driver.
He was shot once in the chest and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
The man, described as being between 19 and 24, was outside in the 3800 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the Wentworth Gardens public housing development. Three unknown assailants fired shots, police said.
The victim was shot in the side. He was pronounced dead afterward, police said.
Police were still looking for at least one suspect in the incident off the Dan Ryan Expressway Tuesday evening. CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reports.
