More than 1,500 people are feeling the Christmas joy thanks to St. Sabina Church in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
Nonprofit groups are working to distribute essential supplies to those impacted by the fires across the Los Angeles area.
For a decade, the Village of Flossmoor has encouraged organizations to make the national holiday a "day on" instead of a "day off" by actively participating in a service project.
They partnered through the organization Little Brothers-Friends of the Elderly to spread joy this holiday.

The National Volunteer Fire Council said, "The number of volunteer firefighters reached a low in 2020, while call volume continues to rise every year."
From shoes and clothes to children's and household items, it is a one-stop shop.
"There is a big need, you know. We try to be gracious with people's time. We know that it's cold. A lot of these people are migrants and unfortunately, they don't have jackets."
Volunteers were answering the phone calls of those contributing to the Red Cross on Giving Tuesday. But they're not the only ones making a difference. Some seniors at Naperville North High School have also been helping make an impact in their community.
The organizer of the effort and volunteers collected around 4,000 pounds of trash along an East Garfield Park road during a recent pick-up.
