After negotiating for months, the teachers' union in Romeoville reached a tentative agreement with Valley View Community School District 365U, avoiding a potential strike.
In Romeoville, the teachers could go on strike on Sept. 18 if they fail to reach a deal.
In a joint statement, the two sides said the tentative deal will avoid a strike, and no classes will be cancelled next week.
The union and the district have been bargaining since February.
