A toddler was wounded by a stray bullet from an attempted robbery outside his family’s apartment near the University of Illinois Chicago on Saturday.
Chicago police said just after 10 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the 3100 block of West Cermak Road.
Further investigation indicated that there was a green SUV that struck an unoccupied parked vehicle in close proximity to the victim.
The shooting happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of South Mayfield Avenue.
The victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

A rideshare driver dropped off two victims at an area hospital, who then drove to the 7th District police station to report the incident.
