The parade happening on Saturday recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of the African American community. Organizer Adrienne Hawkins-Turner talks more about the event.
This follows the four previously reported robberies that happened since June 5.
In the past week, police say a man approached the victim, showed a gun, and demanded their property.
Chicago police say they found a 47-year-old man near Walnut and Homan around 10:15 p.m. Friday. While at the scene, they were called about a 43-year-old man who was found in an alley near Lake and Homan.
Participants ran through the city's West Side while viewing some historical sites along the course route.
The course weaves through our historic parks and boulevards, starting and finishing in Garfield Park with some scenic loops through Humboldt and Douglass Parks.
The marathon draws people from all over the city, state, and country. Last year, some international participants participated.
The burglaries happened during various hours of the day between March 4 and May 10 in the Humboldt Park, Garfield Park, and North Lawndale neighborhoods.
One of the residents said he ran to get his family after he saw the back of their stove was on fire.
