Despite expectations for construction to begin this summer on a permanent Bally's casino in Chicago, a groundbreaking won't actually be held until the fall.
The casino opened its doors about three years ago and is keeping its commitment to give back to those in need in the surrounding neighborhoods in Northern Indiana.
Bally's noted that the Chicago casino was its only Illinois property to show month-over-month revenue growth, despite poor weather conditions.

"The city's budgeting for the casino has always been overly, wildly optimistic."
The money fell well short of expectations in Bally's first three months at their temporary site at The Medinah Temple in River North. CBS 2 Political Reporter Chris Tye digs into the numbers.
As CBS 2's Marissa Perlman reported, the casino is also extending parking hours and dining hours at a cafe inside.

The bright red signs are visible at the Medinah Temple, but it won't open until the end of August. Right now you'll find "now hiring" signs with a Q-R code for people to apply.

Bally's must still clear additional regulatory hurdles, including a two- to four-day test run of the temporary casino, before getting its necessary permit.
