This is the story of how a collection of written material started in a basement – but soon outgrew the space.
"For our culture, we don't have a spot," founder Shana Tate said. "I mean, there's clubs, and all that stuff, but we don't have a spot for relaxation. Just being able to provide that space is so important."
On the corner of Broadway and Ardmore, Edgewater has its very own slice of Italy.
School is out for summer in Elk Grove Village as of this afternoon, but for one teacher, he's packing up for good.
Participants say they have been learning life lessons about maintaining their sobriety through the films they've been watching.
"We're a group that has provided and contributed to society, to the building of Chicago," said Puerto Rican Arts Alliance program manager Jorge Felix.
As the school year wraps up, one local woman is aiming to be a positive role model by being a positive rapper.
"It's important to showcase what a big part Chinese Americans and other Asian Americans are part of the culinary scene in a city like Chicago."
Participants in the HorsePower Therapeutic Riding program experience improvements in their cognitive skills, parents say.
"You have to be the light. You have to be the light for yourself, and the choir is not just a choir, but we're movement, and were moving people through music," said Disney II Magnet School junior Isis Clark.
