For decades some of the city's brightest students have shown their very best at the Chicago Public Schools science fair, but a Lane Tech senior stole the spotlight this year.
On Saturday morning, the West Side sounded like New Orleans, with music from a brass band accompanying a message.

The three-day workshop was organized by Polished Pebbles, a mentoring initiative that has been helping girls across the Chicago area for 15 years.
The Chicago Housing Authority hosted the event along with the Daisie Foundation.
"On the front of the building, it says 'Savings Department,' and I love that," Alt Space Chicago co-founder Jordan Campbell said.
"They're doing lifesaving work and street outreach; community violence intervention. This will debilitate them and harm their ability to continue to do that work," Metropolitan Family Services CEO Ric Estrada said.
