Dallas police said the suspect and victim knew each other.
Much of the Hulen Mall is now open after a fire Friday night sent panicked crowds running as heavy smoke poured from the building's second floor.
At the Galleria, the mall was packed, and shoppers were not slowing down, despite Christmas being over.
Police say they have cleared and searched the mall and believe there is no threat to the public.
The general manager of the Galleria Dallas put out a statement on Facebook to dispel the viral rumor that the mall was closing after news of the property getting new owners broke.
