Temperatures to slowly warm after cold front brings frigid weather to North Texas

Tuesday was a warmer one across North Texas as the sunshine returned, and our winds were much calmer as high pressure settled in across the region.

This brought near-to-just-below-normal temperatures for Dallas-Fort Worth, with highs in the mid-50s.

Tuesday night, our winds return out of the south, pumping warmer air into North Texas, and bringing the return of above-normal temperatures for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Expect a seasonable start to the morning on Wednesday, with lows in the mid to upper 30s for the metroplex. By afternoon, we warm to the mid-60s, with sunshine.

It will be a nice evening to ring in the new year, with calm winds, clear skies, and seasonably mild temperatures. Just grab a jacket as you head out.

We continue to warm into New Year's Day and the end of the week, with highs back close to 70. Expect an increase in cloud coverage; however, on Thursday, as an area of low pressure moves to our north, sending a cold front through by Friday.

This is a dry front that will drop our temps to the mid-60s Saturday, ahead of a warm-up back to the low to mid-70s by Sunday.
