Johnny Resendiz joined CBS News Texas in February 2025. Born in Dallas and raised in Mesquite, he is thrilled to be working in his hometown.
Johnny graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Sports Media. He began his broadcasting career as a sports intern at KOCO in Oklahoma City before landing his first reporting job at KOTV in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He later spent two years as a sports reporter at KTNV in Las Vegas, where he covered some of the biggest events in sports, including Super Bowl LVIII, the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix, the Stanley Cup Final, and numerous historic boxing and MMA fight nights.
But no matter where his career has taken him, Texas has always been home. Johnny is excited to be back in North Texas covering the teams and communities he grew up around, from Friday night high school football to the region's professional sports franchises.
Johnny is a proud child of immigrants and a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. When he's not working, you can usually find Johnny on a local golf course trying to break 80, enjoying the outdoors, exploring the DFW food scene, or practicing martial arts.
