Duquesne University opens new medical school amid nationwide physician shortage
Amid a nationwide shortage of physicians, Duquesne University opened its new College of Medicine on Wednesday.

Jessica Guay joined KDKA as a reporter in February 2021. She is ecstatic to be telling stories in Pittsburgh.
Jessica has over seven years experience on the desk and in the field. Before joining KDKA, Jessica was a morning anchor and reporter at WJAC in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She was also an anchor and reporter at WCHS in Charleston, West Virginia, and at WTOV in Steubenville, Ohio.
While in West Virginia, she found her love for covering breaking news. She was on the ground during the historic flood in June 2016 that took the lives of 23 people. She also kept her viewers informed during a deadly plane crash at Yeagar airport in Charleston.
While in Johnstown, Jessica also won a few awards for her feature reporting. She had the opportunity to tell stories about people, organizations and even animals making a difference in the community.
Jessica was born and raised in Hockessin, Delaware, a small town outside of Wilmington. She attended West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in TV Journalism and she studied non-fiction writing.
Jessica has a passion for animals. She has spent a lot of time volunteering for animal shelters and rescues. She loves her rescue cats and dog! She also enjoys spending time with her family and going to the Delaware beaches.
Jessica has spent the last 12 years in and around the Pittsburgh area. She always knew she wanted to be a journalist in the Steel City. Jessica can't wait to share stories that matter. If you have any story ideas, she would love to hear from you!
