Reports say the FTC and attorneys general in five states and Washington D.C. are looking into whether Juul used deceptive marketing and targeted minors. In an exclusive interview this week, Juul CEO Kevin Burns told said that his company never intentionally targeted teens.
Three states this week raised the minimum age to purchase cigarettes and e-cigarettes. It's part of a nationwide crackdown on teen addiction to nicotine. Dr. Jon LaPook reports.
Michigan is the first state to ban flavored e- cigarettes. The governor said that the ban is meant to protect young people from the potentially harmful effects of vaping. The ban, which covers retail and online sales, goes into effect immediately, but businesses have 30 days to comply. It does not apply to tobacco-flavored e-cigarettes.
There is a major break in the nationwide vaping crisis. Public health officials said some of the marijuana products that recently sickened users across the country contained the same chemical. It's a type of oil made from vitamin E. Dean Reynolds reports.
An 18-year-old from Gurnee, Illinois has been hospitalized since last week. He says he vaped with THC, the primary ingredient in marijuana, and became feverish soon after.
