A powerful spring storm is battering parts of the country's mid-section. Hail and thunderstorms struck the Dallas-Fort Worth area Wednesday. In Arkansas, the severe weather damaged at least seven homes. Heavy snow north of Colorado Springs stranded drivers, forcing many to be rescued. The blizzard also shut down Denver's airport. The severe weather threatens more than 57 million Americans. Adriana Diaz reports from Green Bay, Wisconsin, where a blizzard warning is in effect.

Much of the town of Deweyville, Texas is underwater

Violent weather pounding the Midwest left a trail of destruction. There are reports of multiple tornadoes that touched down Tuesday. Animals were rescued when one hit northwest of Springfield, Illinois. Other areas saw high winds that knocked over trucks and damaged homes. Hail the size of golf balls poured down. No one was reported hurt. Flooding is still a major concern in the South. David Begnaud reports from Deweyville, Texas, where much of the town is underwater.

More than 40 million Americans are bracing for possible severe weather Tuesday. A tornado tore through Ohio Monday northwest of Dayton, damaging several buildings. Large pieces of hail pounded South Carolina and winds accelerated to around 70 mph. Farther south, rising rivers in Louisiana and Texas have forced evacuations. David Begnaud reports from Deweyville, Texas, where the governor has declared a state of emergency.
