CDC: 27M+ Americans have gotten at least 1 COVID shot

More than 27 million Americans are on their way to full inoculation after receiving at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, according to numbers released by the Centers for Disease Control. Dr. Susannah Hills joins CBSN to discuss the increased efforts to vaccinate the country and how having already had the disease can affect getting vaccinated, as well as a new study that suggest reinfection may not be as rare as once thought.

The pace of COVID-19 vaccine distribution is steadily rising in the U.S., but there are still concerns about inequities. Education Secretary nominee confirmation hearing

Miguel Cardona, President Biden's Education secretary nominee, testified before a Senate Committee for nearly three hours during his confirmation hearing Wednesday. Kevin Carey, a New York Times contributor and Vice President of Education Policy and Knowledge Management at the nonprofit New America, joins CBSN's "Red & Blue" anchor Elaine Quijano to discuss how Cardona's background could impact education for children who come from non-English-speaking homes.

Widow of congressman-elect runs for his seat

Louisiana will hold a special election on March 20 after the unexpected opening of two congressional seats. The 5th congressional district seat was left vacant after Republican Congressman-elect Luke Letlow died of complications from COVID-19. His widow Julia is now running for that seat. The second contest is a race to fill a 2nd Congressional District seat that opened up after Democratic Representative Cedric Richmond resigned to join the Biden administration.
