The sequel to the 2018 Marvel superhero film "Black Panther" is in theaters now. "Wakanda Forever" focuses on how the fictional African nation deals with the death of its king and superhero Black Panther following the real-life death of actor Chadwick Boseman. "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the year, and early reviews are calling it one of Marvel Studios' best films ever. Actor Winston Duke, who plays M'Baku in the movie, joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss the project and filming it without late actor Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman, who played King T'Challa in 2018's "Black Panther" and several other Marvel films, died in 2020 at age 43 after a private, four-year battle with colon cancer.
The company said on Thursday that instead of focusing on T'Challa's storyline, "Black Panther 2" will "explore the world of Wakanda."
A recently publicized text message from late actor Chadwick Boseman gives even more insight into how much of a real superhero he was to his youngest fans.
"There was an authenticity and a grace and respect to not just each role that he was inhabiting but also I think to what it meant to the Black community each he stepped in front of the camera," Johnson said.
"For him to see [a superhero] that looked like him or looked like his father, as far as a Black man that's saving the world, that meant a lot to him," his dad told CBS News.
In addition to tributes for the "Black Panther" actor, racial justice was a major theme of the VMAs shaped by the coronavirus pandemic.

Boseman was diagnosed with stage three colon cancer in 2016, and it had progressed to stage four, according to the post announcing his death.
