Oprah to Texas governor: "Pause" on Rodney Reed

On November 20, Rodney Reed is scheduled to be executed in Texas. He was convicted of raping and killing 19-year-old Stacey Stites in 1996. Reed says they were in a consensual relationship and maintains his innocence. Meanwhile, her fiancé allegedly confessed to another inmate when in prison for an unrelated crime, but retracted the confession. Celebrities and lawmakers have called for the conviction to be overturned, citing new witness testimony. Oprah Winfrey, who was on "CBS This Morning" to reveal her latest book club pick, also weighed in on the case.

Kamala Harris on impeachment reaching Senate

The impeachment proceedings on Capitol Hill could eventually pull some senators running for president from the campaign trail. That includes Kamala Harris. Her national poll numbers are falling and she closed all three of her field offices in New Hampshire. CBS News special correspondent Alex Wagner interviewed the California senator for the Showtime series, "The Circus." Wagner joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss Harris’ strategy.

Boston program transforms gang members into college students

In Boston city and community leaders are engaged in a bold experiment: To use higher education to transform the city's most dangerous neighborhoods. The program "Boston Uncornered" recruits gang members to drop their guns and enroll in college by paying them to do so. Supporters say it costs less than the ongoing cycle of enforcement, incarceration and recidivism, and is also an investment in the community. Dana Jacobson reports.
