An ice storm warning has been issued for the eastern half of Westmoreland, Fayette, Somerset, and Garrett counties.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from Pittsburgh points west and north through the afternoon and into Saturday night. Both are in effect through 1 a.m.

Ice accumulation could be significant in the Laurel Highlands and the Ridges, where 0.25" to 0.5" is possible. This could lead to slippery roads, downed power lines, and tree limbs, so be extra careful this evening if you plan to be out and about north and east of Pittsburgh.

Areas from Route 422 north to I-80 also have a decent chance of seeing light ice accumulation and glazing this evening, so watch bridges and overpasses.

All precipitation will exit before daybreak Sunday followed by mainly cloudy skies, seasonable highs in the mid to upper 30s, and a bit of sunshine trying to break through on Monday.

Tuesday brings a disturbance pushing by, mainly to the south, but bringing us a chance for a few snow showers. Wednesday will bring a lull during the daytime before another round of potential wintry mix to rain on Wednesday night/Thursday.

Valentine's Day looks dry and seasonable!
