It may have been surprising to some, but it was only natural that the queen's grandsons would come together.
Many of the high-profile members of the royal family visited memorials to Queen Elizabeth II across the U.K.
Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral will be Monday, Sept. 19.
Upon his ascent to the throne, King Charles III passed his previous title – the Prince of Wales – to his oldest son, who is now next in line for the crown.
For the first time ever, people around the world were able to watch the proceedings of the Accession Council - a centuries old constitutional tradition - play out live.
Britain's longest-reigning monarch passed away at the age of 96, and the new king has now taken up residence at Buckingham Palace.
The musician told a crowd at his Toronto show that he was "very sad" about Queen Elizabeth II's death.
"The queen, my beloved mother, was an inspiration, an example to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family could owe," the new monarch said.
The attacks killed almost 100 of her subjects and clearly deeply affected the queen.
A trail of tributes line the roads to Buckingham Palace, where many heaped praise on their beloved monarch.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's youngsters aren't the only British royals with new titles as the second Elizabethan era comes to a close.
Her trips were official, but also included sightseeing and shopping.
The British government's plan for the 10 days between the queen's passing and her state funeral — known as Operation London Bridge — has been in the works for decades.
