10/18 CBS2 Sunday Afternoon Weather Headlines

By Matt DeLucia
CBS2 Meteorologist/Weather Producer

Hello everyone! Hopefully you're staying warm on this chilly fall day. Many of us started out below freezing this morning, even in the 20s in the NW suburbs. Didn't quite get there in and around the city, but still in the 30s!

Temps will struggle this afternoon to get much higher than the mid and upper 40s ... going for 50 in the city. That NW breeze will continue, so it'll feel even colder out there and more like a late November day! Temps in the upper 40s for the Jets over at MetLife Stadium. If you're headed to Game 2 tonight at Citi Field, you'll wanna dress in layers ... only around 45 for first pitch, but with the brisk wind it'll be feeling more like the upper 30s to around 40. By game's end, the actual temps WILL be in the 30s.

Freeze warnings are in effect once again tonight as temps drop back into the 20s and 30s. For some of the NW counties not included, it doesn't mean you won't see sub-freezing temps ... just that the growing season has already ended for these places with a widespread freeze. The "warm" spot will be NYC, with an overnight low of 35.

As you head off to work and school tomorrow morning, bundle up! It will be in the 20s and 30s. BRRR! Temps will climb slightly higher for Monday, but not by much... high of 52 in the city under bright, sunny skies. The good news shows in the extended forecast, as we'll climb back into the upper 60s and even 70 by midweek!
