How much snow did we get? A look at snow totals in NYC, N.J., and beyond

The largest storm in years delivered some serious snow totals that broke records in New York City and across the Tri-State Area. 

The most snowfall was in Monroe, N.Y., with 18 inches.

Here are the big reports across the area:  

New York City

  • Washington Heights, Manhattan: 14.9"

New Jersey

  • Stockholm: 17.0"

Long Island

  • Centre Island: 15.3"

Hudson Valley

  • New City: 17.6"

Connecticut

  • New Fairfield: 15.0"

While Sunday's snowfall didn't break any all-time records, it did break records for the date.

The old record for Jan. 25 in Central Park was 10.0", set way back in 1905.

Every one of our local climate reporting sites also set new daily records for snowfall. 

Bridgeport, Conn., shattered its record with a 14.5-inch total, besting the 4-inch record from 2000. Elsewhere across the region, double-digit totals were quite common, especially across northern New Jersey and the Lower Hudson Valley. 

New City, New York had the highest total, coming in with 17.6 inches.  

All other records across the Tri-State Area for Jan. 25 were set in 2000.  

  • LaGuardia: 5.8"
  • JFK: 6.2"
  • Islip, N.Y.: 3.0"
  • Newark, N.J.: 5.5"

Here's the observed snow on Jan. 25, 2026:

  • Central Park: 11.4"
  • LaGuardia: 9.4"
  • JFK: 8.3"
  • Islip, N.Y.: 7.0"
  • Newark, N.J.: 10.8"
  • Bridgeport, Conn.: 14.5"
