Jets' Bowles: Too Early To Get Amped Up Over Schedule

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Todd Bowles is proving once again that he's the anti-Rex.

While Rex Ryan was always good for a quote -- or 10 -- on the Jets' upcoming schedule, New York's new head coach says he's not about to get too amped up with the opener set in stone for Sept. 13 against the Cleveland Browns.

"Not at the moment. We're still in the early stages of building our team," Bowles told the team's official website. "But as the summer passes by and that game approaches, I'm sure we'll get excited."

Other key dates on the Jets' schedule, which was released Tuesday night, include Oct. 4 against Miami in London, Oct. 25 at New England and Dec. 6 at the crosstown rival New York Giants. Then there are the two games against the Buffalo Bills, coached by the aforementioned Ryan, who was fired after a 4-12 finish with the Jets last season and has since engaged in a war of words with New York tight end Jace Amaro.

Bowles wouldn't take the bait during a conference call, saying he was focused on his own team. The Jets will host the Bills during Thursday Night Football on Nov. 12 and travel to Buffalo to end the season Jan. 3.

In fact, the last three weeks could be intense. The Jets will visit the defending NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys in prime time Dec. 19, host the defending Super Bowl champs and bitter-rival Patriots on Dec. 27, and end with the grudge match in enemy territory against Rex's Bills.

"Every game has special significance for us," Bowles said. "We're trying to win them all."
