Man Caught On Video Ripping Off Woman's Purse In Flatbush, Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police released surveillance video late Friday of a man ripping a purse off a woman with her young child nearby in Brooklyn.

Around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the suspect came up to the 23-year-old woman from behind while she was with her 5-year-old son at Foster and Rogers avenues in Flatbush, police said.

The man snatched the woman's purse, which contained her Samsung Galaxy 5 cellphone and wallet, police said. The video showed the man breaking the purse snap.

The victim was not seriously injured, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male in his mid-30s to early 40s, standing 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall and weighing 175 to 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt, a black baseball hat, ripped blue jeans, and black and white sneakers.
