B&C Morning Show: Yankees Do What They Do, Clinch AL East
The Yankees swept a doubleheader from the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday at the Stadium.
By doing so, the Bombers not only clinched a berth in the playoffs (which they did when they won Game 1), but after wrapping up Game 2 they clinched the AL East title.
Craig "The Yankees Fan" was grinning from ear-to-ear and even went as far to declare Joe Girardi as the AL Manager of the Year for what his Bombers have accomplished thus far.
With that said, Craig did exclaim the only way this season can end properly for the Yankees is if they capture World Series title No. 28 - which is a pretty lofty task.
While Craig was praising Girardi, Boomer was quick to point out the role Derek Jeter has played in the Yanks' AL East triumph, as the captain is hitting close .340 since the All-Star break.
With the AL East Crown theirs and a magic number of 3 for clinching home field advantage throughout the playoffs, all in all things are good in 'Yankee Land.' And because of that, Craig explains the story behind his controversial 'Mets Fans for Yankees' congregation and his 'Thank God For The Yankees' (TGFTY) credo.
After allowing his radio partner to drone on about 'his' beloved Yanks, finally Boomer pulled out the wet blanket and brought up the health of Giants wide receiver Dominick Hixon, who is done for the second straight season with a torn ACL. The guys discussed the Giants injury problems and how the loss of Hixon might effect Eli Manning moving forward.
As for the Jets, although Nick Mangold has not ruled himself out of Sunday's game against the Raiders, Boomer & Craig agree it's unlikely the all-pro center will take the field in Oakland...
