B&C Morning Show: Big Blue's Super Dominance
Boomer & Craig were taking quite a bit of flack this morning for picking the Patriots to win the Super Bowl on Friday in the final installment of their award-winning NFL picks against the spread - which was certainly expected.
After owning up to their blunder, Craig decided to remind Giants fans that they are far from perfect themselves. He did this by playing a montage of Giants fans calling the morning show following Big Blue's 23-10, week 15 loss to the Washington Redskins.
With that out of the way, Jerry Recco proceeded to deliver his first update of the morning - which was obviously focused squarely on the Giants' 21-17 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.
We heard from Bob Papa & Carl Banks, who had the radio call of the game right here on WFAN. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin was understandably elated following his second Super Bowl victory, while his signal caller Eli Manning sounded more than happy to talk about his 38-yard completion to Marion Manningham late in the 4th quarter. Manningham himself took time to praise hid defensive mates.
Speaking of the Giants defense, Justin Tuck sacked Tom Brady a couple of times and took time to point out that following the victory over the Jets, he and his teammates knew they had a chance. Chris Canty talked about the Giants' roller-coaster ride of a season and it all being worth it.
Antrel Rolle said being a Super Bowl Champion has not yet hit him and Ahmad Bradshaw reminds everyone to look no further that Tom Coughlin when handing out credit, a sentiment echoed by Giants co-owner John Mara.
As for the Patriots, Bill Belichick has now lost two Super Bowls - both to the Giants - after winning his first three with the Pats. Wes Welker had a big drop late that could have sealed the victory for New England and was pretty hard on himself afterward.
So the Giants are Super Bowl Champs once again, their second in the last four years and their fourth overall. Tomorrow their will be a ticker-tape parade for the Giants down the 'Canyon of Hero's' and the FAN will have it covered.
Plus, Knicks host the Jazz tonight, Bulls @ Nets, Rangers beat the Flyers 5-2, Devils 5-2 over the Penguins and Kyle Stanley wins the Phoenix Open a week after collapsing at Torrey Pines...
