B&C Morning Show: Antonio Cromartie's High Self-Worth; Yankees Lose, Mets Win
Antonio Cromartie made it clear that he has no intentions of giving the Jets any kind of hometown discount when it comes to signing, saying that he is planning on shopping himself around a bit to seek out the most lucrative deal.
Jerry "Rello" Recco reported on Cromartie's plight, as well as the ongoing negotiations between the NFL and the NFLPA, which appear to be close to a resolution.
Then we heard about last night's action on the baseball field, as the Yankees took on the Rays in Tampa Bay. In the 7th inning - with the Bombers holding a 2-1 lead - Curtis Granderson lost a fly ball in the roof of Tropicana Field which fell for a single. That was followed up by a couple of errors courtesy of Boone Logan and Granderson. When the game concluded the Yanks found themselves in the short end of a 3-2 loss. We heard reaction from Logan, Joe Girardi and Russell Martin following the game.
Meanwhile at Citi Field, the Mets and their fans were thrilled to welcome back Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran to the lineup and their presence was certainly felt. In his first game back after a stint on the DL, Reyes went 2-5 and scored the Mets first run of the night while Beltran reached base 5 times (3 hits & 2 BB) and also scored a run. Their combined efforts helped the Mets to a 4-2 over the Cardinals.
Off the field we got an update in the status of Ike Davis, who has been on the DL since mid-May. Davis spoke with a group of campers on Long Island yesterday and he made the members of the Coleman County Day Camp aware of his status before he let his manger Terry Collins know...
