Wiggins Named Western Conference Player Of The Month For February

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- With 23 games left in the regular season, the NBA's Rookie of the Year award is there for Andrew Wiggins to take.

For the fourth straight month, the Timberwolves forward was named the Rookie of the Month in the Western Conference for February. Wiggins led all rookies in scoring with 16.8 points per game, free throw attempts with 5.7 per game and minutes played with more than 38 per game.

He was also third in blocks, third in free-throw percentage and fourth in field goal percentage.

Wiggins was name the MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge as part of NBA All-Star Weekend on Feb. 13. He had 22 points, six rebounds and four assists in that game. He scored at least 20 points for the Timberwolves in three games.

He tied Isaiah Rider for the most 30-point games in franchise history by a rookie after scoring 30 on his 20th birthday in a loss to the Houston Rockets.

Wiggins currently leads all rookies in scoring (15.8 points per game) and minutes played (34.9) on the season.
