MINNEAPOLIS — Strong southerly winds, along with some sunshine, will help temperatures climb close to 70 Thursday afternoon in the Twin Cities.

Clouds build Thursday night with showers in place by mid-morning Friday.

There could be some thunder and a strong storm across southern Minnesota, but the greatest severe chances will be into Iowa southward.

Faster winds are also on tap Friday with gusts up to 40 mph. This will knock temps back into the 50s to end the week.

The rain looks to continue until Saturday morning, longer for northern Minnesota, when we get a little break before more rain moves in Sunday morning.

The second storm looks to wrap up into Monday morning, with both combined possibly bring us up to 2 inches of rain. This one could also bring some thunder, but the threat of widespread severe weather remains low.

Temps stay relatively seasonable through the weekend before even more of a warmup into the 70s for most of next week.

Next week also looks a bit quieter and drier with the exception of a few more quick showers on Tuesday.
