MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Malls in the Twin Cities have announced when they'll reopen their retail stores. Rosedale Center and the Galleria Edina say they plan to open stores Monday while keeping bars and restaurants closed until next month. The Mall of America says it needs a bit for time and is planning to allow its retail stores to open on June 1. Meanwhile, all inside dining and attractions will be closed until a later time.
Here are the latest updates in the COVID-19 pandemic:
- 8 p.m.: The U.S. House passes the $3 trillion HEROES Act, another COVID-19 relief bill, which is expected to fail in the Senate.
- 12:36 p.m.: The Open Street events scheduled for July in Minneapolis -- on Franklin Avenue and East Lake Street -- have been canceled. Later events are pending.
- 11:36 a.m.:Officials say that 16 DVS exam stations will be reopened for a majority of services on May 19.
- 11:30 a.m.:The Mall of America is asking the state legislature for help dealing with the financial hit it's taking due to the COVID-19 crisis.
- 11 a.m.: Minnesota added another 808 cases of COVID-19 to its tally, nearly matching the daily record. Additionally, another 20 people have died, with 17 of the victims being residents in long-term care facilities.
- 10:23 a.m.: Minnesota's congressional delegation is encouraging Minnesotans who've recovered from COVID-19 to donate plasma.
- 8:47 a.m.: Twin Cities Pride organizers announce a virtual weekend celebration for June 27-28. The event will feature an online marketplace, a virtual Rainbow Run 5K and a virtual Pride Parade
- 7:01 a.m.:The U.S. House is expected to vote on a massive coronavirus relief bill on Friday, although the $3 trillion legislation is unlikely to gain any traction in the Republican-controlled Senate.
- 6:09 a.m.:The New York Stock Exchange will reopen its trading floor on May 26 with restrictions in place.
- 5:41 a.m.: The lockdown order in New York, the state hardest hit by the novel coronavirus, has been extended until June 17.
