According to authorities, the assault took place on Wednesday, but when the suspect was spotted on Thursday, a short pursuit turned standoff after he crashed his vehicle in Lakewood.
The coyote has not yet been located, and the status of the child is not immediately known.
The suspects were located near the scene of the robbery after authorities set a perimeter in the area and utilized canines in the search.
Cremale Herron, 32, walked away from Holton Conservation Camp in Sylmar early Thursday morning. He was previously scheduled to be released in August 2023, after being sentenced for assault with a deadly weapon in 2017.
