Scenes of snow being blown around by strong and biting winds aren’t uncommon during a Chicago winter – but they aren’t pleasant, and they can be dangerous. CBS 2 Political Investigator Dana Kozlov reports on how city officials are getting out ahead of such conditions.
The Adler Planetarium announced it will be closed this weekend due to the winter storm that's expected to hit the city Thursday- bringing dangerous conditions.
With the impending winter storm approaching, Metra has adjusted its schedule and travel times.
Christkindlmarket Wrigleyville at Gallagher Way plans to reopen Monday, and will be open daily from Monday through New Year's Eve.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is urging Hoosiers to stay off the roads from Thursday evening and through the weekend, unless absolutely necessary.

Another community preparing for at least 4 inches of snow is Evanston where crews are using something environmentally friendly to treat the roads.

The next couple of days are shaping up to be a double whammy for consumers who haven't quite finished up their Christmas shopping and now have to get ready for a pending snow storm.

Airport and airline officials have said, if you can, arrange for a flight before Thursday or after Friday to avoid the storm.
O'Hare and Midway airports are preparing for a big winter storm later this week, which could bring blizzard conditions Thursday into Friday. The storm comes as the airports are expecting nearly 3 million travelers over the Christmas weekend.

The strong storm is expected to hit Chicagoland with just about everything -- cold temperatures, high winds, dangerous wind chills, and potentially significant snow.
Traveling will be more than punishing to some people leaving town even if the snowfall amounts to half of some of the projections. CBS 2's Chris Ty reports.
Impacts include falling and blowing snow resulting in white out conditions with zero visibility at times, making travel difficult, if not impossible.
