Police said a man went into a woman's home and shot her.
First responders were called to the school—which is part of the Chicago Public Schools—for "multiple overdoses" just two hours before dismissal.
Three students at Kilmer Elementary School in Rogers Park were taken to the hospital after eating the gummies, which contained an unknown drug. Darius Johnson reports.
The Fire Department said the children were all hospitalized after eating something.
It happened just after 2 a.m. in the 1700 block of West Howard Street.
The shelter at the former motel, at 7300 N. Sheridan Rd. at Chase Avenue, had been in operation since July 2023.

The robberies mostly happened in the Rogers Park and West Ridge areas.
In each incident, someone walked into a store, approached the victims, and demanded money
Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
