A Joliet mother has been charged after her 12-year-old daughter died of an apparent heroin and fentanyl overdose, police said Thursday. Colette Bancroft, 35, currently faces a charge of drug possession.
Officers responded to the area near Landau Avenue and Ohio Street just before 8 p.m. for a report of a person shot.
At least two people were in custody Friday night in connection with the crimes, which were committed in broad daylight.
