The family of Cooper Roberts, the 8-year-old boy who was shot and left paralyzed in the Highland Park July 4th parade massacre, hopes he will soon be transferred from the hospital to rehabilitation.
Cooper Roberts was shot at the July 4th parade in Highland Park, and his spine was severed. His mother, Keely -- who was also shot -- has an update on his, and the family's, progress.
Corgan has lived in Highland Park for about 20 years, and his parrtner Chloe for about 10.
Since the Highland Park July 4th parade massacre, momentum has been building, and membership has been soaring, for grassroots organizations like Moms Demand Action. CBS 2's Charlie De Mar reports.
Members started off with a moment of silence to honor the seven victims who were killed.
It was an emotional evening in Highland Park Monday night as the City County held its first in-person meeting since the July 4th parade massacre.
"The family continues to be very grateful for and humbled by the outpouring of support and well wishes."

Gov. JB Pritzker is pushing the Illinois State Police to change their policy regarding who can get a Firearm Owners Identification Card.
The proposal comes after the Highland Park parade shooter was deemed a Clear and Present Danger by local police, but Illinois State Police said there was not enough evidence for the designation and the shooter went on to get FOID anyway. CBS 2's Chris Tye reports.
The policy change would affect Clear and Present Danger lists in Illinois. Currently, someone can get put on them for threats deemed imminent or substantial. CBS 2's Chris Tye reports.
Cooper has now been fever-free for 48 hours, and is breathing on his own, and no longer on a ventilator.
Monday will mark two weeks since a massacre left seven people dead and dozens wounded when a man opened fire upon the July 4th parade.
Ravinia, which is itself in Highland Park, closed for a week out of respect to those impacted by the July 4th shooting. Now, the community is hoping music will help heal. CBS 2's Marissa Perlman reports.
"Please keep sending love and prayers to my son as he continues to fight as hard as he can," his mother, Keely Roberts, said in a statement.
Scams involve asking victims to pay for assistance or being asked for personal information.
"Dogs can really absorb sadness and the awful situations that people are going through."
"He is just a miracle. He is going to change the world. Really, truly he is. He is going to keep fighting."
A robust turnout at a vigil Wednesday evening proved that the people of Highland Park are indeed Highland Park strong.
Leaders said it is hard to speak of healing after so much loss, and many called for gun reform. CBS 2's Marissa Perlman reports.
