Several water main breaks in Atlanta brought on a two-day water outage. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens issued a state of emergency on Saturday as city officials faced criticism over a more than 12-hour gap in updating residents on the situation.
The problems began Friday morning, causing water problems at two hospitals, a city jail, a county jail and local shelters.
A water main break in Atlanta has caused massive problems for the city. Water stopped flowing to the Atlanta's airport, the busiest in the world, and residents have not had clean water since Friday. Dave Malkoff reports.
A boil water advisory remains in effect for about 133,000 Michigan residents following a large water main break Saturday.
On Saturday, almost 935,000 people in southeastern Michigan were advised to boil their drinking water after a break on a 120-inch water main.
The 120-inch pipe in St. Clair County, called a water main, carries treated water from Lake Huron and is the largest in the system, the agency said.
Approximate 165,000 homes and businesses were without water this week, as temperatures hovered near 100 degrees.
Odessa is also seeing above-average temperatures for this time of year, according to the National Weather Service.
