Majority Leader Mitch McConnell renewed his doubts about Steve Bannon's primary threats on Tuesday, and said the party's goal is to "nominate people who can actually win." Michael Steel, managing director for Hamilton Place Strategies and former press secretary to House Speaker John Boehner, joined "Red and Blue" to discuss whether these threats are actually a problem for the GOP -- whether the White House should get more involved in the race for governor in Virginia.

Trump on opioid report

During an impromptu Q-and-A session in the White House Rose Garden, CBS News chief White House correspondent Major Garrett asked President Trump about a joint investigation by CBS' "60 Minutes" and The Washington Post on the opioid crisis. The report found that Congress helped disarm the Drug Enforcement Administration. Rep. Tom Marino, R-Pennsylvania, a chief advocate for the bill at the center of the investigation, is Mr. Trump's nominee to be federal drug czar.
