Montgomery lynching memorial

A new museum and memorial in Montgomery, Alabama, is expected to open in 2017 for America to confront its history of slavery. The Memorial to Peace and Justice would be the biggest and most comprehensive memorial for the thousands of people who were lynched. Equal Justice Initiative founder and executive director Bryan Stevenson, whose organization has helped spare the lives of more than 115 wrongfully-condemned death row prisoners, joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss his latest project.

Alabama's attorney general pledged to join other states to fight a new Obama administration directive. It requires public schools to give transgender students access to bathrooms and locker rooms that match their gender identity. The governor of Arkansas told his state's schools to defy the directive. Embattled Alabama Governor Robert Bentley is resisting new calls to resign after efforts to impeach him. The Republican chief executive -- who is divorced -- has acknowledged making inappropriate sexual remarks to a female adviser while he was married. Recordings of those conversations surfaced last week. Anna Werner reports from the state capitol in Montgomery, where that adviser’s resignation was announced.

Amazon union efforts fail in Alabama

Efforts to unionize an Amazon warehouse in Alabama are officially over for now, after workers at a facility in Bessemer voted no to forming a collective bargaining unit. The Retail, Wholesale and Department Store union has accused Amazon of manipulating the vote and intimidating employees to say no to unionizing. It plans on challenging the results, while Amazon denies the allegations. Margaret O'Mara, a professor at the University of Washington who researches the history of tech companies, joins CBSN's Elaine Quijano to discuss.
