The move comes after the airline announced a $1.2 billion third-quarter loss because of the pandemic.
The engine blew apart on April 17, 2018 and shattered a window.
Southwest said in a statement that its employees are known for their sense of humor.
Federal transportation authorities will hold a hearing Wednesday related to the Southwest Airlines plane forced to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia last April.
They will also look into the design of the engine housing, which is supposed to prevent pieces from breaking loose.
