"It started as a consensual prank between me and the other pilot. I never imagined it would turn into this in a thousand years," Haak said during a remote hearing.
The move comes after the airline announced a $1.2 billion third-quarter loss because of the pandemic.
The engine blew apart on April 17, 2018 and shattered a window.

Federal transportation authorities will hold a hearing Wednesday related to the Southwest Airlines plane forced to make an emergency landing in Philadelphia last April.
